Our staff channeled their Southwestern spirit on October 24 when they wore their jewels, jeans, and jackets to the Heard Museum’s Moondance Gala. The gala raised funds for education programs at the museum that directly impact students, children, and the visitor experience.

Team University of Phoenix Races Together

University of Phoenix once again participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Sunday, October 11. Over 1,200 employees ran, walked, or slept in on behalf of cancer research and hope. This year’s race once again proved to be an exceptional event. Thousands of breast cancer survivors and supporters completed a 5k message of perseverance, camaraderie, and determination. We are proud to report that Team University of Phoenix raised over $34,000 to aid the scientific community in their efforts to advance medical innovation for our families and friends affected by breast cancer. Thank you for your continued support of Susan G. Komen and your dedication to a cure. University of Phoenix was fortunate enough to be a sponsor for this great cause helping children and families in need.

University of Phoenix Supports the NMAI 20th Anniversary Gala in Washington, DC

This October the National Museum of the American Indian celebrated its 20th anniversary. NMAI is the sixteenth museum of the Smithsonian Institution. It is the first national museum dedicated to the preservation, study, and exhibition of the life, languages, literature, history, and arts of Native Americans.

Staff Celebrates with the Phoenix Public Library Foundation

Once again, University of Phoenix attended Dinner in the Stacks at the Burton Barr Central Library on October 17. This annual event honors long-time library supporters. Entertainment was provided by the Groove Merchants and University of Phoenix sponsored a table.

University Attends Prestigious Academic Conference in Tempe, AZ

Executives and representatives from the University’s National Research Center for Teaching and Learning joined with academics from across the country to attend the Market-Based Colleges and Universities and the Future of American Higher Education and its Workforce conference October 8-9. Our executives lead two sessions: Framing the Discussion: Outcomes Oriented Institutions and Traditional Higher Education: Costs and Benefits; and Accomplishments of Market Funded Institutions.

Teach for America Chicago Annual Benefit Dinner

On October 22 University of Phoenix joined with 400 local supporters to celebrate the impact of Teach for America and learn more about its efforts to expand educational opportunity for all children. The event featured Ron Huberman, CEO, Chicago Public Schools and Wendy Kopp, CEO and Founder, Teach for America. Currently, 415 Chicago corps members are working relentlessly to improve academic outcomes for students in Chicago’s highest-need communities. We are proud to support Teach for America’s commitment to education in our sister city.

WCET is a membership cooperative of institutions and organizations dedicated to advancing access and excellence in higher education through the innovative use of technology. Friends of Animal Care & Control Hero Awards

University of Phoenix attended the Friends of Animal Care & Control Hero Awards on October 24 in Phoenix. Their mission is to end euthanasia of healthy and adoptable dogs and cats in our community by raising funds to support the special programs of Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. We’re proud to support the FACCs in their commitment to give healthy, adoptable pets a second chance.
