The School of Advanced Studies Adopts a Classroom
Ms. Baker, a 6th grade math teacher at Desert Shadows Middle
School heard about the “Adopt a Class” program, which solicits
donations for teachers and classrooms, and signed her class up. The
next thing she knew, Kurt Boyd, an Academic Counselor for the School
of Advanced Studies, had linked up with the Ms. Baker and the middle
school. The School of Advanced Studies created a “Holiday in
October” campaign within their department and collected piles and
piles of school supplies. Ms. Baker expected a few dollars to help
out her classroom, and was shocked when University of Phoenix
employees in the School of Advanced Studies collected enough to help
out the entire school! After the drive was over, employees got the
opportunity to meet many of the teachers and students that they had
helped, and it was a great experience for all involved. Thank you to
the School of Advanced Studies for setting an excellent example for
your fellow employees!
