University of Phoenix Honors Those Who Protect Our Freedom

March 5, 2008 - During a night filled with patriotism, heroism, and enthusiasm, the Armed Forces Foundation hosted their annual Congressional Gala to honor the brave Service Members who protect and serve our country. As a sponsor of the event, University of Phoenix showed their extreme gratitude and thanks to over 200 injured veterans in attendance from Bethesda National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Hospital, both based in Washington, D.C. Members of Joint Chiefs of Staff and Department of Defense officials were among those in attendance to celebrate the Armed Forces Foundation Fourth Annual Congressional Gala.

The Armed Forces Foundation is based out of Washington, D.C. With their motto, “Serving those who serve,” the Foundation is a non-profit organization under the Department of Defense’s “American Supports You” program and dedicates its time to promoting the morale, welfare and quality-of-life of the American military community. University of Phoenix Supports Those Who Heal Our Children

In March 2008, University of Phoenix was a proud sponsor of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital 2008 Beach Ball held at the Arizona Biltmore. The event focused around the achievements of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital to provide health care and service to children in need. During the emotional evening, guests heard words of inspiration from families who have benefited from the service provided by the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Lucky Students Get Lessons from the Pros during a Cardinals Kids Camp hosted by the University of Phoenix

In February and March 2008, University of Phoenix and the Arizona Cardinals teamed up once again to host two kid’s camps for 100 children from Brooks Academy and 100 children from Edison Elementary School. Cardinals staff, along with team mascot Big Red and kicker Neil Rackers spent time with kids from Brooks Academy. Cardinals player Lyle Sendlein joined in on the fun when students from Edison Elementary visited the facility. Both groups were treated to a morning of lessons on punting, kicking, passing and other important football skills. Administration from the schools used the opportunity as a reward to students for good work.

University of Phoenix Celebrates the Empowerment of Women

 

In March 2008, University of Phoenix sponsored both the YWCA luncheon and the International Women's Day Celebration. Both events highlight outstanding achievements made by women in their community. The YWCA lunch is committed to eliminating discrimination and empowering women. The annual International Women's Day luncheon commemorates the continuing struggle of women to improve their lives. The stage at the International Women's Day celebration was decorated with flags from nations across the globe. The flags were provided by Western International University.
