University of Phoenix Got Spiked!

With the excitement of the approaching Super Bowl in the air and the sponsorship with the Super Bowl XLII Host Committee, University of Phoenix showed their team spirit and at the same time, gave back to the community. During Super Bowl week 2008, University of Phoenix employees from campuses and learning centers across the nation took part in the Super Bowl by participating in the You Got Spiked sticker program. With the purchase of a You Got Spiked sticker, employees sported their favorite team gear on the Thursday and Friday leading up to Super Bowl XLII. From the Phoenix Suns to the New York Giants, employees showed off their teams of choice. In three short days, University of Phoenix employees raised over $14,000 in donations that went to charities such as the Special Olympics programs throughout the nation, local elementary schools, food banks, Adopt-A-Family, March of Dimes, local hospitals and more.

University of Phoenix employees are Super!
The University of Phoenix teamed up with the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee to help make this year’s Super Bowl a success. As a sponsor of the Arizona Host Committee for Super Bowl XLII, University of Phoenix launched a variety of community outreach initiatives to add spirit and innovation to the approaching event. During the months leading up to Super Bowl XLII, University of Phoenix helped the Super Bowl by lending our innovative and technical expertise to create an interactive web tutorial for the 10,000 Super Bowl volunteers, by hosting a Team Captain Spike coloring contest for children throughout the Arizona community to enter and have their pages displayed at a public forum, by presenting the Spirit of Education award during the Super Learning Program (A Salute to Teachers Gala), and by recruiting over 300 employees to volunteer for Super Bowl XVII and surrounding events. The sponsorship with the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee is just one of the University’s many efforts to be a Community partner.

In December and January of 2007, thousands of fans came to the University of Phoenix stadium for the 37th annual Fiesta football Bowl game and Fiesta Bowl National band championship. University of Phoenix partnered with the Fiesta Bowl committee and sponsored the Fiesta Bowl National band championship. The band championship is known to be one of the most prestigious high school marching band competitions in the country. Bands competed in front of judges who critiqued on musical performance, visual performance, auxiliary techniques, percussion, drum majors and general overall effect. Chino high school from California took home the Grand Master trophy, presented by University of Phoenix President Bill Pepicello and Vice President Curriculum Design & Develop Mark Alexander.
