The AMVETS/University of Phoenix Scholarship Program
There are no adequate words to fully convey the appreciation and
gratitude University of Phoenix feels for the military personnel who are
currently serving our country, and the selfless veterans who have served so
honorably in the past.
So, rather than “say” thank you, University of Phoenix is putting those words into action by launching scholarship programs that specifically benefit members of the U.S. military.
The AMVETS/University of Phoenix Scholarship program awarded 25 scholarships this year, each valued at $4,000, to current or honorably discharged military members, including National Guard and Reserve personnel; or to a qualifying member’s spouse, child or grandchild. The first 25 scholarships were awarded November 9, 2007 during a national AMVETS ceremony in Washington, D.C.
The AMVETS (or American Veterans) organization was formed at the conclusion of World War II to provide services, legislative action and quality-of-life programs for all veterans. The national organization includes more than 1,400 chapters throughout the United States.
