Metro-Detroit Campus Donates Computers to Military Base

Metro Detroit Campus Donates Computers to Military Base

In May of 2007, the Metro Detroit University of Phoenix campuses donated 15 computers and technology support equipment to the Michigan Army National Guard's Olympia Armory on McGraw in Detroit, Michigan. The equipment allows families of military personnel in Iraq to video-conference with each other. Rather than waiting for a phone call, the video-conference center allows families to communicate with soldiers overseas in a real-time format. The Armory is also used as a resource center for Axia College of University of Phoenix students to use for computer access and technical support. Dozens of families have benefited from this substantial gift which brings them even closer to their loved ones overseas. As a result of the donation, family members and support teams working at the base (specifically the, A BTTY 1/182 FA SECFOR FRG, support team) have been contacting Community Education Liaisons in Detroit for information on University of Phoenix on a regular basis as our online education model fits the military schedule perfectly.
