University of Phoenix Celebrates National Volunteer Week
University of Phoenix sheds new light on volunteer opportunities. On May 1, 2008, in association with National Volunteer Week, University of Phoenix will host a Volunteer Fair for employees in Phoenix, Arizona. During the fair, numerous non-profits organizations from throughout the Phoenix Valley will come to the new Riverpoint locations to provide employees with information on how they can become involved in their community through a number of different volunteering opportunities. The fair is in association with the company's partnership with VolunteerMatch that provides employees throughout the nation with a resource for opportunities in their area.
Anquan Boldin scores a touchdown both athletically and academically!
From April 10 through April 12, 2008, Anquan Boldin, one of Pahokee, Florida's most famous residents, returned home and brought a few of his NFL friends with him for a golf tournament, autograph session, celebrity basketball game, and "Fun-Day-at-the-Park" - all for residents of his home town of Pahokee. University of Phoenix teamed together with Anquan to award three (3) full-tuition scholarships to local high school seniors and single moms during halftime of the celebrity basketball game.
IT Hits the Jackpot
On April 11, 2008, University of Phoenix's very own Infrastructure and Technology department's Senior Roundtable Committee hosted their Second Semi-Annual IT Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament. Employees put on their poker faces and gathered at the local Riverpoint Data Center Break Room to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, MDA.
Honoring Those Who Protect Our Freedom
During a night filled with patriotism, heroism, and enthusiasm, the Armed Forces Foundation hosted their annual Congressional Gala to honor the brave service members who protect and serve our country. As a sponsor of the event, University of Phoenix showed their extreme gratitude and thanks to over 200 injured veterans in attendance.
From July 14-July 25, University of Phoenix, and their new official office supplier, StaplesŪ, piloted its first Back-to-School Drive and Phoenix-area employees, students, faculty and alumni were invited to collect school supplies or donations for members of the Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix.
