CMT One Country and University of Phoenix Partner to recognize the power of volunteerism
CMT One Country and University of Phoenix are working together to recognize the power of one.
During the month of April, CMT One Country broadcasted a public service campaign encouraging
individuals across the country to nominate dedicated volunteers for a full scholarship at
University of Phoenix.
People nominated the individuals who inspire them—they could even nominate themselves on www.cmt.com, in recognition of their community service. At the end of the campaign, one remarkable volunteer will receive a full scholarship to attend University of Phoenix.
The CMT One Country initiative promotes the value of each individual and his or her ability to make a difference in the lives of others and their community. One Country works by celebrating accomplishments and providing resources to encourage community involvement. Led by an advisory board of legendary members and with the support of some of the nation’s top country music stars, the One Country initiative is uniquely positioned to inspire individuals to start making a difference immediately.
University of Phoenix donates computers to the Cardinal’s Academy
During the summer of 2007, University of Phoenix donated 30 computers and
monitors to the Arizona Cardinals Preparatory Academy computer lab in Phoenix, Arizona.
University of Phoenix joined the Cardinals Charities in 2006 to become a founding partner for the launch of the Arizona Cardinals Preparatory Academy in Phoenix, Arizona. This community partnership was created to meet the needs of 5th – 8th graders in the Royal Palm region. This high-profile program will offer accelerated instruction to help students focus on learning and achieve success that they might not otherwise be able to accomplish.
University of Phoenix employees team up to build bikes for children in need
Recently, a group of University of Phoenix employees from the
Instructional Design and Development Department held a Build-A-Bike
Challenge as a department team building activity. The challenge required the group to be split
into 20 teams. Each team completed a series of challenges or questions in
order to earn parts and tools needed to build a small child’s bicycle. After
all 20 bikes were completed; the bikes were donated to Childhelp®, a
leading national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of
child abuse and neglect and at-risk children. Childhelp® programs and
services focus on advocacy, prevention, treatment and community outreach.
